Their seasoned crew picks you up right from your home’s dock instead of the Kaibo marina, so there’s no driving, no parking, no waiting around at a public launch. Just walk down, step aboard, and off you go!
The Experience
Every trip motors out to the sandbar at Stingray City, where you’ll wade in crystal clear waist-deep water as the crew introduces you to the island’s gentle, resident rays. You’ll learn how to hold them, feed them, and yes, cradle one for that photo you’ll be posting to Instagram for everyone back home.
From there, it’s on to a nearby reef for a snorkel safari past parrotfish, and coral gardens, before a final stop at Starfish Point—a low-key, powder-sand beach scattered with real live starfish. Then it’s back to your dock, where your vacation simply resumes.
Silver Thatch Watersports runs two charters daily: one in the morning (8:00 am – 11:30 am), another in the afternoon (1:30 pm – 5:00 pm), plus an optional 90-minute sunset cruise for the golden-hour crowd.
Each has its advantages. Despite the early start, morning charters tend to have the sandbar all to themselves with fewer boats and tourists, but the water might be a touch on the cold-side. The afternoon excursion provides prime visibility and water conditions but more boats and crowds. You really can’t go wrong with either as it is truly a magical experience to swim with these creatures up-close.
