This winter, Canadian airline Porter Airlines is launching two new non-stop Caribbean flights, including the first direct flight from Ottawa to Grand Cayman. These new direct flights offer Canadian travelers more convenient access to Grand Cayman’s sun-drenched beaches during the frigid winter months.
Starting December 16, Porter will begin three weekly flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in Grand Cayman. One-way fares start as low as CAD$273.
The Ottawa (YOW) – Grand Cayman route begins on December 19, operating once a week. The Ottawa flight marks a milestone as the first-ever non-stop service between Canada’s capital and the Cayman Islands. The direct flight will transport Canadian travelers to sunny Grand Cayman in under 4.5 hours. One-way fares start as low as CAD$303.
These new Caribbean routes are part of Porter’s broader winter expansion. For Canadians planning a Caribbean vacation, Porter now offers more options for easy, direct travel to top beach destinations.
Porter will operate these routes using its 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, offering economy travelers a premium experience with free high-speed WiFi, complimentary wine and beer, and snacks on board.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Porter Airlines to Grand Cayman,” said Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism for the Cayman Islands. “These new flights give Canadian travelers easier access to our award-winning beaches, incredible snorkeling, and warm Caymanian hospitality.”
In 2023, over 30,000 Canadian visitors traveled to the Cayman Islands, making Canada one of the destination’s top markets. With new non-stop service from both Toronto and Ottawa, those numbers are expected to grow this winter.
So if you’re dreaming of sunshine instead of snowfall, it’s time to book your Caribbean escape. With direct flights from both Toronto and Ottawa, your tropical winter vacation is now just a few hours away.
