The Motor City Adds Direct Flights to Grand Cayman
Starting December 2025, Delta Air Lines will launch new nonstop flights from Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) to Grand Cayman’s Owen Roberts Int’l Airport (GCM), giving families across Michigan and the greater Midwest a faster, easier way to reach the Caribbean this winter.
Operating through April 2026, the seasonal service eliminates the need for connecting flights, making it especially convenient for parents traveling with kids.
Whether you’re from Detroit, nearby cities across Michigan, or even just across the border in Windsor, Ontario, this new route opens the door to warm beaches, crystal-clear water, and family-friendly adventures just a few hours from home.
Delta’s decision follows rising demand for Grand Cayman as a vacation destination among Midwest travelers. The Cayman Islands offer something for every family member—from gentle snorkeling and wildlife encounters to world-class dining and luxury accommodations.
This new route is part of Delta’s broader winter expansion across the Caribbean, including a new flight from Minneapolis to Nassau. Cayman Islands tourism officials have welcomed the Detroit addition, noting it will play a key role in making island getaways more accessible to Midwest families seeking sun-soaked memories. Booking details will be available next month.
