Visiting Grand Cayman during late summer or early fall comes with advantages and draw backs. On the plus side, the beaches are less crowded as kids and families pivot to back-to-school season. It’s also when major resorts drop their rates to entice travelers in the off-season.
However, off-season travel also brings one key factor to plan around—temporary restaurant closures.
With September stay-over visitors dropping 61% from peak winter high season to approximately 26,800 visitors, fine-dining spots and local eateries temporarily pause operations for major kitchen upgrades, menu changes, and much needed staff holidays. Early fall also aligns with the Atlantic hurricane season making it a natural time to briefly pause operations before ramping up for the winter travel season.
Key Restaurant Closures for Fall 2026
Here’s a quick list of our favorite restaurants and when they’ll reopen their doors for service.
- Tukka West: Closed on Mondays through early November.
- Kaibo (Beach Bar, Restaurant & Espresso Coffeehouse): Closed; reopens October 9.
- The Rum Point Club: Closed Mondays. Operating on reduced hours the rest of the week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Sunday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Thursday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM).
- Italian Kitchen (East End): Closed; reopens mid-October.
- La Casita Taco & Tequila Bar: Closed; reopens October 23.
- Czech Inn Grill: Closed; reopens October 3, and
- Andiamo (The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman): Closed; reopens October 29.
Places That Remain Open
- Blue Flame at Rum Point Resort remains open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- The Caboose on Frank Sound Road
- Over the Edge in North Side
- Sunshine Grill on Seven Mile Beach, and
- Vivine’s Kitchen in East End
